2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S: A True Warrior

A quick track and changing weather for this first contact with the Mercedes-AMG GT on Canadian soil.

The cabin of the GT S is beautiful and photogenic in red and black.

There were only four AMG GTs in Canada, and we had them all to ourselves at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The AMG GT S' seats are as beautiful as they are comfortable, and they offer a lot of lateral support.

The GT S' centre console is beautiful, especially in this optional silver hue.

You can choose between 5 different driving modes using this wheel.

The negative camber angle of the front wheels helps with cornering sharpness.

The large dials and clear displays are typical for AMG products.

The graphics are really well-made.

There is no better way to illustrate the A/C controls.

One of the optional packages include this carbon fibre divider between the cockpit and the cargo area.

The GT S' sides really showcase its sleek curves, sharp angles and short overhangs.

The 4-litre, 503-horsepower twin-turbo V8 in the GT S is mounted low in the chassis thanks to its dry-sump lubrication system.

The two turbos are mounted in the middle of the engine for a more compact design.

As part of AMG's tradition, each engine is ''signed'' by the engineer who built it.

This lithium-ion battery is ten pounds lighter than a conventional unit.

The GT S rides on 265/35R19 tires up front and 295/30R20 at the back.

Rain kept things interesting on track... we even saw hail fall from the sky twice.

Five different finishes are available for the inside, ranging from matte black to metallic silver.

Only the 30 Edition 1 cars will feature this rear wing.

In addition to the rear wing, Edition 1 cars will also get this carbon fibre roof.

The standard grille features pointy silver sticks, but you can also get a black one (in addition to the black wheels shown here).

Carbon-ceramic brakes, an option worth $13,750, feature these golden brake calipers.
