2026 Audi A5, Q5 Get More Updates Following Last Year’s Redesigns
Two of Audi’s best-selling models, which were completely redesigned for 2025, continue to evolve with another series of improvements for 2026, primarily in the area of technology. We’re talking about the A5 sedan (the new generation of the A4 sold under a different name) and the Q5 compact SUV.
First, an all-new design language for the three displays of the Audi Digital Stage debuts across the 2026 A5 and Q5 model lines, creating a more consistent appearance and familiar touchpoints throughout the vehicle and myAudi app interfaces. It ensures more clarity and a more easily identifiable and usable structure.

The centre touchscreen features fewer lists and more graphical representations to further reduce distractions, which is definitely a good thing. The voice-activated Audi digital assistant features new animations, and a clock display is now docked in the upper left corner of the screen.

In front of the driver, the so-called virtual cockpit has also been streamlined and simplified for more user-friendly operation. Three unique displays can be selected using the "View" button on the steering wheel. What’s more, smartphone interface functions are more deeply integrated into the infotainment system, allowing users to mirror their smartphone’s navigation, media and phone functions directly into the virtual cockpit as well as in the touchscreen.
The available front passenger display also implements the new design language, including new standby designs which include the time and date. It also supports an independent Bluetooth headset that will play audio content for the passenger while gaming, playing videos or browsing internet content. This means the driver can listen to any source in parallel via the cabin’s audio system.

Next up, the updated multifunction steering wheel marks the return of the familiar scroll wheel. It replaces the previous touch-sensitive interface that designers chose to include in the new A5 and Q5, one that many drivers found annoying.
Furthermore, content across the various trim levels has been slightly revised. For example, an S Sport suspension and a new high-resolution dashcam are now available on the sedan. The latter is integrated into the base of the rearview mirror and records the action in front of the vehicle in 4K, with excellent picture clarity even in low-light conditions. It is controlled via an app on the centre screen and can automatically capture footage 30 seconds before and after an accident. For privacy reasons, data is saved to an SD card, not to the vehicle's computer.

What else? The S5 gains a new drive mode called “Dynamic Plus” that permits controlled oversteer thanks to precise implementation of the standard quattro sport differential, brake torque vectoring and automatic ESC optimization. Parking and maneuvering functions in the optional park assist pro system expand, as well. Reverse assist is now able to take over steering for the last 150 feet (50 metres) when backing towards a spot, making this maneuver less stressful particularly on narrow streets.
One last thing: with the new “experience worlds,” Audi is introducing tailored mood scenarios that use interior lighting, sound, massage functions and climate control settings to create an invigorating or relaxing atmosphere in the vehicle. Once activated, each scenario lasts between 10 and 20 minutes, and it can dynamically adapt to the vehicle’s movements while driving.

The 2026 Audi A5 and S5 as well as the 2026 Q5 and SQ5 (including their Sportback variant) are scheduled to go on sale by the end of March. Canadian pricing has yet to be announced.
