330,000 Ford, Lincoln Vehicles Recalled Over Engine Block Heater Issue
Ford, which once again topped the list of car companies with the most safety recalls in 2025, has just issued two more recalls that target over 330,000 vehicles in Canada.
In each case, the problem lies with the engine block heater, which could leak coolant and short circuit when it's plugged in, potentially leading to a fire.

The first recall, affecting 193,627 vehicles, is aimed exclusively at units equipped with a 2.0-litre engine. The affected models are the 2013-2019 Ford Escape (entire third generation), 2013- 2018 Ford Focus and 2015-2016 Lincoln MKC.

The second recall affects 138,783 vehicles, but this one replaces another recall that was announced in 2025 and includes additional models. To be clear, vehicles that have already been repaired do not need a second visit to the dealership.
We’re talking about the 2021-2024 Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport, 2020-2022 Escape, 2016-2024 Explorer, 2016-2018 Focus, 2022-2024 Maverick, 2019-2024 Ranger, as well as the 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC and 2020-2022 Corsair.

As a precaution, Ford advises not to use the engine block heater until the recall repairs have been completed. Dealers will simply replace the block heater.
Owners will be notified by mail in the coming weeks, but they can also check Ford Canada’s recall website to determine if their vehicle is part of the list.
