Cadillac Seals the Fate of CT4, CT5, But There’s a Twist
The fate of Cadillac’s two gas-powered sedans has been decided. The subcompact CT4 and compact CT5 may still be alive for the 2026 model year, but only one will see a new generation.
Rumours have been circulating since last March that GM's luxury brand would soon discontinue both cars, which are more popular in the U.S. than in Canada. A letter published by Cadillac's global vice president, John Roth, now reveals that the CT4 will cease production in June 2026 and the CT5 will follow suit at the end of that year.

The duo hit the market six years ago. While the CT5 received an update for 2025, this is not the case for the CT4. In fact, the latter will go on a permanent retirement.

But here’s the twist: the CT5 still has a future. It will be redesigned, apparently for the 2027 model year, and will retain a combustion engine instead of being replaced by an electric sedan. As such, production will remain at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
“Cadillac is well positioned to adapt its portfolio to meet customer demand by offering the luxury of choice and this is the next proof point of that flexibility”, Roth wrote, confirming that the next CT5 will be available for purchase in the U.S. and Canada.
More details will be shared as plans are finalized, he added.

Earlier this year, Cadillac announced that its XT6 three-row midsize SUV will not return after 2025, but that the compact-sized XT5 will continue to be produced until the end of 2026. Then, a new generation will arrive as a 2027 model, as we reported this summer.
The XT4 subcompact crossover was retired in early 2025.
