2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Gets $21,000 Discount Because Nobody Wants One

With an all-inclusive price tag exceeding $80,000 and no eligibility for government incentives, the colourful and fully electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz has been a massive letdown since deliveries in Canada began early this year, struggling to win over even the most nostalgic buyers. Sure enough, its limited range doesn't help, either.

The only model available is a "First Edition" loaded with exclusive features. It didn’t take long for the company to sweeten the deal by partnering with Electrify Canada (which it owns) to offer customers up to four years of free DC fast charging, up to a maximum of 1,400 kWh.

Of course, that’s nowhere near enough, so Volkswagen is now taking drastic measures. As part of its "Volksfest" promotional campaign, a huge discount of $21,000—roughly 25% off—is being offered on units languishing on dealer lots.

In other words, ID. Buzz models that until recently retailed for around $88,000 (including fees) are now selling for around $67,000. By searching the inventory on the Volkswagen Canada website, they're not difficult to spot.

Will shoppers take the bait? One thing is certain: Volkswagen couldn't stand idly by while other three-row electric vehicles sell for much less, such as the Kia EV9 and Hyundai IONIQ 9. VinFast had to do the same with its VF 9: after slashing the price by 30%, the Vietnamese brand is right now offering rebates totaling up to $16,000.

As for the lower-spec, more affordable ID. Buzz models that we've been waiting for, don't hold your breath. Given the current situation, Volkswagen would have to price them at around $60,000 to justify importing and selling them in Canada.
