Hennessey Releases Venom GT Images

Hennessey, a garage known for their ability to tinker with Dodge’s fastest product, has not-so-quietly been at work producing this: the Venom GT supercar. Based upon the highly capable Lotus Elise, the Venom is something of a modern-day Shelby Cobra; a diminutive British sports car stretched and pulled in nearly every dimension to encapsulate a massive American V8. In the case of the Venom, the V8 in question is the 6.2 litre LS9 found beneath the clear hood of the Corvette ZR1, albeit with a few modifications. The base model produces 725 horsepower and 741 pound-feet of torque, while the top echelon models, of which there are two, boast twin turbocharging and between 1,000 and 1,200 horsepower. In a car weighing just 2,548 pounds, that’s either a recipe for excitement, or disaster.

In any case, although Hennessey hasn’t exactly been keeping quiet about the car’s production, photography has been limited to the pretty basic in-the-shop sort we’ve come to expect from smaller tuning garages, but in an effort to bring the elusive, explosive supercar to market, Hennessey finally released some proper photography to tempt any would-be (well-heeled) buyers out of the woodwork.
