Four New Recalls Affecting Tens of Thousands of Ford, Lincoln Vehicles in Canada

Ford, which has already issued over 100 safety recalls so far in 2025, is adding four more this week.

Some 1.2 million vehicles are affected in the U.S. and another 156,000 in Canada.

Braking

First of all, the rear brake jounce hose on a large number of 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX crossovers may rupture, causing a brake fluid leak that can lead to increased pedal travel and longer stopping distances.

According to Global News, approximately 52,500 vehicles are affected in Canada. No one has been injured as a result of the issue to date. However, at least 15 customers have filed complaints.

The root cause of the failure has not been identified yet. Therefore, a fix is still in the works.

Instruments

When it comes to the 2025 Ford F-150 and 2025-2026 Super Duty, the instrument panel cluster may fail at startup, making it impossible for the driver to see the gauges or warnings. As Ford explains, “during the sleep entry sequence of the instrument panel cluster, a CAN wakeup interrupt can occur within a narrow timeframe, resulting in a memory protection fault."

Ford dealers will need to perform a software update (which cannot be done remotely via the cloud) to disable the memory protection feature.

Taillights

Next, despite being freshly revised and updated, the 2025 Ford Explorer and 2025 Lincoln Aviator may have a body control module with improperly soldered components on its circuit board. As a result, the trailer taillights may not illuminate when a trailer is connected to the vehicle. There may also be a trailer error message in the instrument display.

What’s more, owners may experience issues with the power window and mirror switches, glove box light, vanity lights, dome lamps, alarm, USB chargers and more.

Apparently, the plan is for dealers to replace the module on vehicles with fewer than 9,000 miles (14,400 km). Those with higher mileage will undergo a test and their module will be replaced if it's not functioning correctly.

Airbags

The fourth recall involves the 2024-2026 Ford Ranger. The side-curtain airbags may contact the inner reinforcement flange of the B-pillar, potentially causing the airbag to tear during deployment. Obviously, this could increase the risk of injury or death during an accident.

In this case, the remedy is to install protective shields for the airbags.
