Ram’s Extended Powertrain Warranty to Be Offered in Canada After All
Remember when Ram announced an extension of its limited powertrain warranty back in June, but only in the U.S.? Well, the company has changed its mind so Canadian customers will benefit from the same coverage, too.
All 2026 model-year Ram models—including the Ram 1500 and Heavy Duty trucks and ProMaster van, excluding full battery-electric vehicles—will be covered for 10 years or 160,000 km, which is unmatched in the full-size truck segment.

The current powertrain warranty was 5 years or 100,000 km (gas models), aligning with Ford and General Motors, or 5 years and 160,000 km (diesel models).

“Everything is more expensive, and trucks are certainly no exception. Truck buyers are financing purchases for longer periods of time, with nearly 80 percent of new truck loans exceeding five years,” CEO Tim Kuniskis said. “Our customers are making a long-term investment in Ram, and with Canada’s best full-size truck limited powertrain warranty, Ram is making a stronger and longer commitment to our customers.”
The new warranty covers the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials and axles. It applies to retail purchases and leases to individuals and businesses. Fleet purchases will also be backed for 160,000 km, but only for a maximum of five years.
This is all part of the company’s planned 25 product announcements over the next 18 months. We’ve already told you about the return of the HEMI V8 and Ram 1500 TRX, as well as the addition of two new Ram 2500 models, not to mention enhancements to connected services. Stay tuned for more.
