Jaguar Report F-Type Production Imminent?

10 years ago, Jaguar wowed the world with a concept that hearkened back to the brand’s glory days. Called the F-Type, the concept reintroduced the old XKE’s graceful lines in a manner the contemporary XK could only hope to achieve, the concept was an unabashed hit amongst the car buying public and industry critics alike. Held aloft as a solitary sign that all might not be lost in Coventry, the smaller, most sporting concept Jaguar had introduced in years was the subject of much debate as Ford went back and forth on promises of production before finally scrapping what would have been the first true sports car from Jaguar in nearly a lifetime.

Now, under Tata’s command, reports have been surfacing of a new Jaguar sports car built to take on Porsche’s famous 911. Promising a small overall size, a light curb weight, spartan sports models, and the gorgeous looks Jaguar is known for, recent reports have finally come full circle, naming the F-Type as this latest Jaguar effort. Although some remain pessimistic, the revisions brought about under Tata’s command definitely lend credence to notion of a new, smaller Jag carrying a slightly lower price tag; a vehicle that would somewhat follow in the footsteps of the smaller, cheaper, but incredibly popular Range Rover Sport from Jag’s sister company.
