BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe Returns With Canada-Only Special Edition

The BMW 4 Series is now available in coupe and convertible body styles only, leaving the practical four-door coupe configuration—or Gran Coupe, in BMW speak—to the fully electric i4. There will be one exception for the 2024 model year, however.

BMW today announced a new M440i xDrive Gran Coupe Legacy Edition that will be exclusive to Canada and limited to 300 units.

The special model can be specified in one of six colour combinations that you won’t find anywhere else in the BMW portfolio, including:

  • Black Sapphire over Black Vernasca Leather (75 units)
  • Brooklyn Grey over Tacora Red Vernasca Leather (75 units)
  • Mineral White over Black Vernasca Leather (75 units)
  • Violet Blue over Ivory White Merino Leather (25 units)
  • Aurora Diamond Green over Tartufo Merino Leather (25 units)
  • Imola Red over Black Merino Leather (25 units)

All 300 units come with the Premium Enhanced Package, M Sport Pro Package, Adaptive M Suspension, front and rear heated seats, carbon fibre interior accents, wireless charging and 20-inch BMW Individual wheels.

Since we’re talking about a BMW M440i xDrive, the engine is a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder producing 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque. Helped by the German automaker’s xDrive all-wheel drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission with launch control, it delivers 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.5 seconds.

The 2024 BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupe Legacy Edition starts at $81,750 plus freight, PDI and dealer fees. Cars with the M Performance exhaust system retail from $89,750. Production begins this month at the Dingolfing assembly plant in Germany, with units arriving in dealerships sometime in January.

It’s the second time in two years that BMW launches a limited 4 Series model exclusive to the Canadian market. For 2023, the M440i xDrive Coupe was available in M Performance Edition (100 units).
