2023 Kia EV6 GT Arrives as Fastest and Most Expensive Kia Ever

The high-performance GT variant of the Kia EV6 electric crossover, which made an appearance this summer at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Élégance in California, is set to go on sale in Canada later this year.

We finally know how much it will cost. And no, it won’t be eligible to any EV rebates anywhere.

The 2023 Kia EV6 GT starts at $74,495 plus $2,899 delivery and destination charge. It’s the fastest and most powerful production model Kia has ever made, generating a combined 576 horsepower and 545 pound-feet of torque from a 160kW front motor and 270kW rear motor.

Targeting the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance (whose own MSRP has been raised to $97,495 for 2023), the EV6 GT can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.55 seconds and has shown that it can hold its own against some of the world’s fastest supercars in a drag race. Oh, and despite being an AWD crossover, there’s a Drift mode that directs power to the rear wheels for what promises to be big-time thrills.

“The EV6 was quickly established as the halo for Kia’s new brand identity and the physical representation of the company’s future under its Plan S strategy,” says Elias El-Achhab, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Kia Canada. “Now introducing the fastest production Kia ever, the EV6 GT demonstrates Kia’s continuous ability to shatter boundaries and expectations.”

Maximum range is 332 km according to Natural Resources Canada, which is much shorter than other EV6 models equipped with the larger 77.4kWh battery. However, with an 800V charging system, it can replenish the battery from 10-to-80 percent in 18 minutes when plugged into a 350kW DC fast charger.

The EV6 GT further stands out with an enhanced Tiger Face grille and vertical fog lamps, along with 21-inch wheels that house neon green painted brake calipers. It receives shock absorbers with electronically controlled dampers and body reinforcements in the rear for quicker response and handling. On the inside, neon green accents continue across the dash and unique sport bucket seats.

By the way, we fully expect parent company Hyundai to launch a similarly powered IONIQ 5 N in the near future, creating a terrific duo. Who said Korean cars were boring?
