2019 Hyundai Santa Fe to be Revealed in February

On sale in Canada since 2012, as a 2013 model, the Hyundai Santa Fe has been successful for the Korean automaker. However, after five years on the market without significant changes, it was time for a redesign.

The fourth-generation Santa Fe will make its public debut at the Geneva Auto Show in early March, but it will be officially unveiled to the world in February before heading to the show.

We don’t know yet if there will still be two different variants of the SUV, as we currently get the Santa Fe Sport (five passengers, short wheelbase) and the Santa Fe XL (six or seven passengers, long wheelbase). The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe’s dimensions could grow, or at least, the smaller version could be scrapped, if we rely on the only image published at the moment. By positioning the new generation of the SUV uniquely in the midsize segment, the compact Hyundai Tucson will get a little more breathing room.

*update* Hyundai has released two sketches of the new Santa Fe on January 30 2018, which we have added to the article.

As for powertrains, we can only speculate for now. Currently, the Santa Fe Sport is available with a 185-horsepower, 2.4-litre four cylinder or a 240-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-litre four, while the Santa Fe XL boasts a 3.3-litre V6 that’s good for 290 horsepower. However, its cousin the Kia Sorento is ditching its turbo 2.0L engine for 2019.

Hyundai says the 2019 Santa Fe’s safety feature list will grow with the addition of a rear occupant alert system as well as autonomous braking for the rear cross traffic detection system.

Spotlight on2019 Hyundai Santa Fe: Loaded, Handsome and Affordable
Hyundai’s timing for the Santa Fe could not have been better. Way back in 2000, they released a generous-sized sport-utility vehicle that, despite being ugly as sin, consumers could not get enough of. I recall a close colleague of mine referring to it as a member of the porcine family.
