Jaguar's Return To Racing
More than 10 years ago, Jaguar lined up on the starting grid of its last Formula 1 race: after 4 years and 84 races, the team had not managed to win a single Grand Prix – or even climb on a podium, or even post a lap record – so they placed all their hopes in this 2004 edition.
In the movies, this race would have ended in a win for the British manufacturer; their drivers would have finished first and second, proudly demonstrating English craftsmanship… but it didn’t happen. After yet another race without a win, the brand shut Jaguar Racing down, thus ending its open-top single-seater racing project.
Today, Jaguar just announced that they want to return to high-level racing; however, instead of going back to Formula 1, it’s now an electric Formula E car that will bear Jaguar’s leaping cat on its sides.
At the start of the 2016 season, we will see the car shown above jumping off the starting grid in an utmost silence on urban tracks around the world. According to Jaguar, the technological advancements that will be developed would be used in upcoming road cars, meaning the future at Jaguar Land Rover is definitely going to feature some electrons.
