2016 Aston Martin DB9 GT To Make North American Debut At Pebble Beach

The most potent ‘DB’ model in the company’s history was first unveiled to the public at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Next week at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week, the 2016 Aston Martin DB9 GT will be shown for the first time on North American soil.

First and foremost, the DB9 GT gets a retuned version of the company’s 5.9L V12 – it’s marketed as a 6.0L engine, but it actually displaces 5,935cc. It produces 547 metric horsepower, or 540 US bhp, and 457 lb-ft of torque, mated to a Touchtronic II six-speed automatic transmission. The car can blast from 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 293 km/h.

The DB9 GT, offered in coupe and Volante convertible body styles, also gets Aston Martin’s updated AMi II infotainment system with USB input, text message integration, vehicle status information, satellite radio capability as well as Bluetooth phone and streaming audio connectivity. The fluted leather upholstery is highlighted with ‘GT’ embroidery, while several interior finishes are available, such as Ice Mocha and Copper Cuprum.

Visually, the 2016 Aston Martin DB9 GT benefits from a black-painted air splitter and diffuser, black-painted brake calipers, ‘GT’ engraving on the aluminum fuel filler cap, redesigned headlight and taillight clusters as well as new ten-spoke, 20-inch alloy wheels. Buyers can also dress the car up with various carbon-fibre accents and graphite-coloured alloys.

In Canada, the 2016 Aston Martin DB9 GT will be priced from $210,510 in coupe form, while the Volante will be listed at $255,150. The DB9 GT Bond Edition coupe will go for at least $249,450.

The English brand will also offer a glimpse of its “Second Century” plan at Pebble Beach by presenting the Lagonda Taraf sedan, the 800+ bhp Aston Martin Vulcan as well as the Aston Martin DBX Concept, which has been confirmed for eventual production.
