2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class: We're Driving It This Week

This year, Mercedes-Benz revised the nomenclature of its SUVs in a bid to better match the names of their cars. When new models are added to the family, the German automaker wants to make it easier for buyers to navigate the naming conventions. As of 2016, the GLK will be known as the GLC-Class (in honour of the C-Class), but this model is also being treated to a complete overhaul. We’re headed to Europe this week to check it out.

Also available as a two-door coupe, the GLC-Class is ditching the square angles that characterized the GLK . It’s a shame to see them go. There will eventually be several options available under the hood, but initially drivers will get the GLC 300 4MATIC whose 241-horsepower supercharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This means that we’re bidding farewell to the 3.5-litre V6 that equipped the GLK-Class!

The GLC-Class is aiming to give the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Porsche Macan a run for their money.
