Car Sales: A New Record For July

The Canadian car industry is doing better and better. Actually, it is doing better than it ever has, since we just had the best month of July sales ever recorded!

176,995 vehicles were sold last month, an 11.3% increase compared to last year.

The manufacturer that saw the biggest improvement was Porsche (mainly because they are selling a lot of Macans). Need more proof that consumers love SUVs? Land Rover also sold 56.6% more vehicles than last year.

On the American side, Ford still sells more vehicles than anyone else. However, GM saw the highest increase in sales (21.5%), with Fiat Chrysler in second place (15%) and the Dearborn-based manufacturer bringing up the rear (7%).

Sadly, things are not going well for everyone. Some brands actually sold fewer vehicles than last year: Volvo (-24.7%), Acura (-18.6%), Kia (-17.2%) and Jaguar (-5.6%), among others.
