Morgan Delays EvaGT to Prepare Magnesium Chassis
Although Morgan might be best known for their classically styled and constructed sports cars, they have in recent years opted to turn towards thoroughly modern engineering in the design of their latest models, culminating in such cars as the Aero Supersports and as-yet-unreleased EvaGT.
As the impossibly pretty shape of things to come at Morgan, the EvaGT will be an important car for the firm that's probably best known for using Ash wood as a major structural component of their chassis, and Morgan obviously doesn't want to disappoint. Having recently been awarded a large grant from the United Kingdom's Technology Strategy Board, Morgan will be using the EvaGT as the project vehicle for an extensive research program intended to see the adaptation of a magnesium alloy for use in lightweight automobile chassis'. The only hitch is that the project will see the EvaGT's launch date moved from this March (when it was supposed to be unveiled in production form at the Geneva motor show) to sometime in 2014. However, prospective buyers will be rewarded for their patience with a car that will benefit from what promises to be some pretty cutting edge technology and a lighter car overall.
