VinFast VF 9 Prices Slashed Nearly 30 Percent in Canada

We’ve told you about Fisker dramatically cutting the price of 2023 Ocean models recently. Now, the same can be said about the 2024 VinFast VF 9 on the eve of the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show, where the Vietnamese automaker will be on display, and with a first batch of units about to be delivered to Canadian customers.

The large three-row electric SUV’s revised MSRP is $74,890 in base ECO trim (up to 402 hp and 531 km of range), down from $103,750. That’s a difference of 27.8 percent, incredibly. Including freight, PDI and other fees, customers need to pay $77,321.

Of course, the VF 9 is too expensive to qualify for federal and provincial EV incentives, but at least it’s much closer to a Korean rival that otherwise would have left it no chance to succeed, namely the Kia EV9. The latter has a base MSRP of $59,995 and is eligible to EV rebates.

The top-line VF 9 Plus requires a premium of $4,000, putting it at $78,890 (all-inclusive price of $81,321). This model might be more luxurious and more generously equipped, but range drops to 468 km due in part to the 21- or 22-inch wheels replacing the standard 20-inch alloys.

By the way, VinFast no longer requires customers to lease the battery separately. It’s now included in the price. The 123kWh pack can be charged from 10-70 percent in less than 35 minutes using a DC fast charger, the company claims.

On the other hand, a number of features and services require a paid subscription, such as live traffic, satellite view, web browser, Android Auto integration and virtual assistant.

Don’t forget that VinFast vehicles are backed by an exceptional 10-year/200,000km warranty. In addition to the VF 9, VinFast also sells the two-row VF 8, which carries a base MSRP of $53,600.
