2024 Jeep Wrangler : Five Things to Know

Jeep has unveiled the new 2024 Wrangler last week at the New York Auto Show. The popular body-on-frame truck has received cosmetic tweaks, and now includes more technology and equipment. The automaker also added two new versions to the lineup.

Here are five things to know about the 2024 Jeep Wrangler.

The Wrangler Essentially Looks the Same

As far as design goes, the Wrangler the Jeep has kept its personality. For 2024, its iconic seven-slot grille has been updated and the antenna is now integrated into the windshield. Ten new wheels ranging from 17 to 20 inches are on the menu, along with a palette of ten body colours.

Inside, the dashboard keeps the horizontal layout and features contrasting stitching. It also gets the Uconnect 5 multimedia system with a 12.3-inch screen.

A Comprehensive Lineup

Jeep expands the 2024 Wrangler's lineup with the addition of two models. The Rubicon X - available with a gas engine or with the 4xe hybrid setup - is based on the Rubicon model, but gets more gadgets and off-road capability. It includes navigation, 12-way adjustable seats, a nine-speaker Alpine stereo system and nappa leather seats. A Rock-Trac full-time transfer case, off-road camera, steel bumper and body-coloured hardtop and fender flares help enhance its off-road performance.

Next, the Wrangler Sport S 4xe is a more affordable version of the popular plug-in hybrid. It houses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors. The combination generates 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The 17-kWh battery provides an electric range of 21 miles (34 km), according to Jeep.

For reference, the 2024 Wrangler lineup consists of the Sport, Willys, Sahara, High Altitude, Rubicon and Rubicon 392 trims. The 2.0-litre turbo (270 hp/295 lb-ft), 3.6 Pentastar V6 (285 hp/260 lb-ft) and 6.4-liter V8 (470 hp/470 lb-ft) engines are still available.

Geared for Off-Roading

The 2024 Wrangler comes standard with four skid plates that cover the fuel tank, transfer case, transmission oil pan and more vitals. The five-link coil spring suspension at all four corners remains, with Rubicon models boasting an 8,000 lb capacity Warn winch (factory installed), a gear ratio of up to 100:1 and a Dana 44 HD Full Float solid rear axle that allows for increased tire size and towing capacity to 5,000 pounds.

New Technologies

The Wrangler will be the first Jeep to offer integrated off-road adventure trail guides with the introduction of Trails Offroad (late availability). The feature evaluates trails and difficulty levels. Occupants will be able to create up to five user profiles with the infotainment system, and connect two devices simultaneously. Other technologies on board include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4G LTE Wi-Fi modem and TomTom navigation.
