Throwback Thursday: Preparing your vehicle for off-roading
A lot about sport utilities has changed over the course of 21 years.
For starters, they have gotten smaller—a lot smaller.
They're also geared further away than ever from off-roading, instead targeted more towards families looking for alternatives to minivans or large sedans.
And perhaps more importantly, live axles have largely gone the way of the dodo, replaced by independent setups that cater to comfort rather than four-wheeling.
Regardless of how the vehicles have changed, preparing the vehicles themselves for off-roading is the same now as it was in 1994.
For those in need of a refresher, here is Cam McRae with some tips that date back more than two decades but are still relevant today.
This segment originally appeared on Episode 6 of Motoring 1995.
