Issue: On certain vehicles, the connection securing the cable from the 48 V battery to the starter-generator may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the connection could loosen and cause a short circuit and/or a loss of power to the wheels. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0L engine. Safety Risk: A short circuit could increase the risk of a fire. A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the nuts. The dealer will replace the 48 V battery cable and/or the starter-generator, as necessary. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
