Issue: On certain vehicles, the brake master cylinder may not have been manufactured properly.

As a result, there could be reduced braking.

Note: This problem could cause the brake pedal to feel soft and/or spongy and a brake warning light could turn on in the instrument cluster.

Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the brake master cylinder.
