Issue: On certain vehicles, the motor driven power steering (MDPS) wiring harness may have been routed incorrectly. As a result, the wiring could become damaged by contact with the steering shaft. If this happens, there could be a reduction or loss of power steering assist. Safety Risk: A loss of power steering assist can cause an increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds, and create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Kia will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, re-route the MDPS wiring harness. If damage is found, the wiring harness will be repaired or replaced as necessary. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
