Recall date February 11, 2024
Models affected
  • 2023 Ford Transit
  • 2024 Ford Transit
Units affected 11,619
Details

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear axle was not properly filled with oil.

As a result, the tail bearings could seize, and the pinion stem could break.

If this happens, the driveshaft could separate from the rear axle and cause a loss of power to the wheels.

This could also cause the vehicle to move when the transmission is in Park, if the parking brake is not used.

Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 9.75" rear axle and a gasoline engine.

Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.

Additionally, a parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash.

Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to have the rear axle inspected.

It will be repaired and/or parts will be replaced, as necessary.
