Issue: On a small number of hybrid vehicles, a problem with the high-voltage battery pack may cause the powertrain to shut down. If this happens, both the engine and electric motor can turn off, and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Note: The power steering and power brake assist will continue to work, as the vehicle's low voltage (12V) electrical system is not affected by this problem. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the high-voltage battery.
