Issue: On certain vehicles, the flanges on the rear axle shafts may not be flat. As a result, the wheel nuts could loosen and the wheel studs could break. If this happens, a wheel could come loose or separate from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects vehicles with single rear wheels, a 4.10:1 axle ratio and aluminum alloy wheels. Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the rear axle shafts. The dealer will replace the rear axle shaft assembly, axle shaft mounting bolts, and rear wheel lug nuts, as necessary. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
