Issue: On certain vehicles, the flanges on the rear axle shafts may not be flat.

As a result, the wheel nuts could loosen and the wheel studs could break.

If this happens, a wheel could come loose or separate from the vehicle.

Note: This recall only affects vehicles with single rear wheels, a 4.10:1 axle ratio and aluminum alloy wheels.

Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.

A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle.

Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the rear axle shafts.

The dealer will replace the rear axle shaft assembly, axle shaft mounting bolts, and rear wheel lug nuts, as necessary.
