Successfully launched in 2016, the XC90 line is adding a 254-horsepower, base T5 version and a 320-horsepower, T8 Excellence edition at the top end with a price that can reach well over $100,000. Unique at Volvo, the T8 PHEV is a plug-in hybrid that takes the T6's engine and adds an electric motor for a combined 400 horsepower. Its 9.2-kWh battery provides an electric operating range of about 21 km without impacting the 2268-kilogram (5000-lb.) towing capacity of the XC90.
