Volvo offers three small SUVs built on the same platform: the EC40, EX40 and XC40. The first two are driven by electric motors, while the third uses a gasoline engine instead. This turbocharged four-cylinder unit with mild hybrid technology produces 247 horsepower and burns slightly more fuel than the competition (9.1 L/100 km). Although the infotainment system is dated, the XC40's overall design remains elegant and handling is refined.
