Volkswagen Golf
The Golf comes in several versions offering three different drivetrains (four if you count the R). The 2.5 is equipped with a 2.5L 5-cylinder engine. The TDI has an efficient 2.0L 4-cylinder, while the most powerful version, the GTI, has a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo that generates 200 horsepower. There are four possible transmissions: 5- and 6-speed manuals, and two 6-speed automatics, a regular one and a dualclutch box depending on engine choice. Drivers who aren’t satisfied with the performance of the powerful GTI can now turn to the R, a turbocharged Golf offered in very limited quantities in Canada. The R is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo that generates an impressive 256 horsepower and 243 lbs.-ft. of torque. The only transmission is a 6-speed manual, and everything is combined with all-wheel drive.
