The Lexus IS is one of the best alternatives to the German compact luxury sedans in a shrinking market segment. As a matter of fact, it offers something the others don't, namely a naturally aspirated V8 engine powering the RWD-only IS 500 at the top of the range. Other models are motivated by a 3.5-litre V6 and equipped with AWD. While not as prestigious or exciting as its German rivals, the IS proves far more reliable and cheaper to maintain.
