Big SUVs are in a class that some see as becoming extinct, although they may be saved by the addition of hybrid models. For its sake, the GMC Yukon uses a V8 engine coupled to an electric two-mode hybrid transmission, which improves fuel-consumption in the city at a rate of 36%, reaching 11 litres/100 km, like a mid-sized sedan. Add to that improved aerodynamics, regenerative braking and low rolling resistance tires. Its towing capacity remains remarkable, at 3,402 kg.
