2026 Nissan Murano Returns to Canada With a Single Model, Higher Price
The Nissan Murano, which stopped being imported in mid-2025 due to the Canadian tariffs on U.S.-made vehicles that do not meet CUSMA requirements, will return to dealerships in the spring. However, customers need to prepare for a shock.
Similar to the Pathfinder and Frontier, the 2026 Murano’s Canadian lineup has been dramatically simplified and made more expensive. In fact, only one trim level remains, namely the top-of-the-line, fully loaded Platinum. It now starts at $58,498 (or $61,383 including all applicable fees), an increase of $4,000 from 2025.

The entry-level SV and SL models, which carried retail prices of $46,848 and $50,498, respectively, have been eliminated.

The Murano Platinum includes premium features such as heated and ventilated front seats with massage function, heated rear seats and a motion-activated power liftgate. It also boasts 21-inch wheels and 64-colour ambient lighting. Its dual 12.3-inch displays come with Google built-in, while the 3D Around View Monitor provides an invisible hood view that makes it easier to navigate tight spaces or off-road.
Despite Murano imports being put on halt for about half the year, Nissan’s two-row midsize SUV managed to increase its Canadian sales by 8.3% in 2025—largely because the previous generation was long overdue for a redesign and had lost significant ground—and surpassed the individual totals of the Chevrolet Blazer, Toyota Crown Signia and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. However, this momentum appears impossible to sustain in 2026.

Praised for its modern looks, remarkable levels of comfort and spacious, generously equipped interior, the latest Murano suffers from an uninspiring driving experience, a new four-cylinder turbo engine that’s not really an upgrade over the discontinued, plus very limited towing capacity (1,500 lbs).
For Nissan customers, it sometimes makes more sense to opt for a high-end Rogue or a Pathfinder. Keep in mind, however, that the latter will only be offered in two trim levels (Rock Creek and Platinum) for the 2026 model year, as it faces a similar situation to the Murano regarding tariffs.
