2026 Nissan Frontier to Offer Just Three Models, Carry $3,000 Price Hikes

While imports of the Nissan Frontier came to a halt in mid-2025 due to tariffs on U.S.-made vehicles that do not meet CUSMA requirements, the Japanese midsize pickup will return to Canadian dealerships in the spring, but with a significantly smaller lineup and higher prices.

Only three models of the 2026 Frontier will survive in Canada including the PRO-4X and PRO-4X Luxury with a 5-foot cargo bed and the PRO-4X Luxury with a 6-foot bed. All of them feature a Double Cab—the so-called King Cab will no longer be offered.

The good news is that Nissan Canada has decided to focus on its most popular Frontier, the off-road-oriented PRO-4X, and continue to offer a choice of two cargo bed lengths. On the other hand, customers who turned to the SV and SL models (MSRP starting at $47,998 and $50,498, respectively) to save some money while still enjoying the powerful V6 will be disappointed.

As a reminder, the Nissan Frontier boasts a 3.8-litre V6 that generates 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

All 2026 models come with Bilstein off-road shocks, all-terrain tires, over-fenders and Lava Red tow hooks. Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor with Off-Road Mode viewing function is also standard, not to mention the drive mode selector.

New since last year, the dashboard incorporates a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus four USB ports.

The Frontier's main competitor, the Toyota Tacoma, has the advantage of being manufactured in Mexico and offering an extremely wide and diverse range of models. It starts at $48,895 and goes all the way up to $85,327, not including the various fees.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Colorado, which is built in the U.S. and proves the best buy in the midsize pickup segment according to our team at The Car Guide, ranges from $39,499 to $72,679 for 2026.
