Honda to Adopt New Logo From 2027, Maybe Launch a Camping Trailer, Too

Several car companies have changed or refreshed their logos in recent years. Think of General Motors, Kia and Nissan. Honda will be among the next ones to do the same.

The Honda 0 electric concepts have already given us a preview. It's a simplified, frameless H-mark, wider and more tilted, with the upper parts rising like outstretched arms to "serve the needs of customers," the Japanese manufacturer explained in an announcement Tuesday.

This new logo will begin to appear on next-generation electric and hybrid vehicles launched from 2027 onwards, including the Honda 0 SUV. It will also be featured at dealerships, in company communications and in motorsports.

As for other Honda models, meaning those with a conventional gasoline engine only, details will be shared later. The rollout of the modernized logo is expected to follow product redesigns.

Honda’s logo dates back to 1963 and was revised in 1969 and 1981. A slight tweak was also made in 2001.

Camping Enthusiasts Will Love This

Also this week, Honda unveiled an intriguing new travel trailer concept that aligns with its many recreational products including motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides and more. Called "Base Station Prototype," it is the work of designers and engineers at Honda's research and development centres in Los Angeles and Ohio.

This lightweight and ultra-modular trailer can be towed by almost any vehicle, whether gas-powered or electric. It can also fit in a standard residential garage or parking space. The ambient light rings around the windows are not only programmable for brightness and colour, but will also illuminate a campsite to make setting up easy at night.

The interior maximizes space for people. The five large side windows, which allow for plenty of natural light, can be removed and replaced with various accessories. The roof, meanwhile, can be quickly raised to create seven feet of stand-up space, while a top-hinged rear tailgate enables free flow between the Base Station and campsite. Honda claims a family of four will comfortably sleep in there thanks to a large futon-style couch that folds out to provide a queen-sized sleeping area and an optional kids' bunk bed.

Also included are an air conditioner, external shower and external kitchen complete with running water and an induction cooktop. Zero-emission power off the grid is enabled through a standard lithium battery, inverter and integrated solar panels.

While production has yet to be confirmed, Honda talked about its trailer concept being “competitively priced in the lightweight travel trailer segment.”
