Ford Unveils 2027 Bronco RTR Made for High-Speed Off-Roading

While the Jeep brand is lagging in sales and desperately trying to retain its hard-won customer loyalty, the Ford Bronco is grabbing market shares and making its mark in a segment that is enjoying explosive popularity in North America.

In order to spice up the already well-stocked Bronco catalogue, Ford called on a long-time partner, American driver Vaugh Gittin Jr. and RTR Vehicles to add a flamboyant and high-performance option to the line. This new 4x4 was unveiled on the sidelines of the Detroit Auto Show at an event that marked the start of Ford's motorsports season.

Designed for high-speed off-roading

Outside, the Bronco RTR proudly sports fluorescent green touches on the body and wheels, RTR’s signature colour found on virtually every vehicle that rolls out of the company’s workshops. The 17-inch Evo6 wheels come from the RTR catalogue and are wrapped in 33-inch off-road tires that benefit from longer suspension travel, a critical aspect of high-speed off-roading.

Ford has not released any specs regarding the Bronco RTR. However, the manufacturer has specified that the RTR’s powertrain will be fitted with software-driven anti-lag technology, which allows the turbocharger to maintain pressure in the system when the drive is off the throttle. This inevitably boosts acceleration response when the throttle is pressed again. To ensure optimal cooling, the RTR team has also given this Bronco a larger, 1000-watt radiator fan than the original Bronco.

Available with the Sasquatch package

Die-hard off-roaders can also opt for the Sasquatch package with the Bronco RTR. This package includes larger 35-inch Goodyear tires, as well as the HOSS 3.0 suspension with Fox internal bypass valve shock absorbers that can be found on the first-generation F-150 Raptor. This suspension is the most aggressive in the Bronco lineup after the extreme Raptor variant.

Pricing and availability information for this Bronco was not revealed at its unveiling, but the manufacturer assures us that it will be more affordable than a Badlands model equipped with the Sasquatch package.
