Your Dodge Hornet or Alfa Romeo Tonale May Lose Its Brake Pedal
Some Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale SUVs may have a brake pedal defect that could cause it to fail and prevent the driver from applying the brakes, according to a new recall that was announced in recent days.
More specifically, 1,068 units from the 2024 model year are affected across the country. The nature of the defect is not specified.

This is not the first time this problem has occurred. In October 2024, another 2,280 Hornets (2024) and Tonales (2024-2025) were recalled for the same issue.

The fix in this case is therefore the same as before: dealerships must reinforce the brake pedal arm. To be clear, they will not replace the brake pedal itself.
This is the ninth recall involving the Hornet since its launch as a 2023 model. Dodge’s small crossover has had its fair share of technical problems so far, earning it a poor reputation for quality and reliability. The Hornet PHEV (plug-in hybrid) is particularly to blame, with several owners having had to replace the gasoline engine.

As previously reported, production of the 2026 model has been postponed for North America while Stellantis continues to assess the impact of U.S. tariff policies. The Hornet is manufactured in Italy alongside the Tonale. There’s a chance it might not even return.
Curiously, that’s not the case for the Tonale: the first units of the 2026 model are arriving at Canadian dealerships this month. A few changes have been made, including a new Sport Speciale edition.
