2027 Kia Seltos Debuts as Sportage-EV5 Mashup, New Hybrid Variant to Follow
Kia is getting into a higher gear for its second-generation Seltos. The popular subcompact SUV will offer more space, more technology and more selection when it launches in Canada sometime in the first half of 2026 as a 2027 model.
Measuring 4,430 mm long (+45), 1,830 mm wide (+30) and 1,600 mm tall (-30), the new Seltos has grown slightly but retains a familiar silhouette. The refreshed exterior design gives it a more high-tech and premium look. In particular, the wider grille draws inspiration from the 2026 Sportage and 2027 Telluride, while other elements are derived from Kia’s electric vehicles, most notably the 2027 EV5 (due in dealerships next spring). These include the "Star Map" headlight and taillight signatures, the geometric wheel pattern and the flush-mounted door handles.
The floating-style roof is once more finished with a rear spoiler for a sporty touch. The lower body, meanwhile, has been redesigned to emphasize the vehicle's athletic stance. The X-Line model will again stand out with a slightly more rugged treatment.

Roomier and More Refined Cabin
The Kia Seltos was already one of the most spacious and accommodating SUVs in its class. For 2027, the wheelbase is stretched to 2,690 mm (+60), resulting in an even more practical and comfortable interior, with an additional 25 mm of legroom for rear passengers and 80 mm of extra cargo floor length. While cargo capacity has increased, the exact volume based on the North American standard is not yet available.
The new interior design is quite refreshing, appearing more airy and more refined than its predecessor. Unfortunately, the shifter remains on the centre console instead of moving to the steering column, as is the case in other markets. The redesigned digital interface, spanning nearly 30 inches, features Kia's latest-generation infotainment system on the right, which is customizable and includes an AI assistant.

Among the desirable features included on select models are the panoramic roof, 64-colour ambient lighting, Harman Kardon audio system, digital key and reclining second-row bench seat.
Same Engines, But Hybrid System is Coming
Built on the new K3 platform, the 2027 Seltos will prove more solid and more stable on the road, not to mention quieter and more agile. Look for the same four-cylinder engines, though, including a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre unit producing 146 horsepower via a CVT and a turbocharged 1.6-litre unit delivering 190 horsepower (currently 195 hp) through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

All-wheel drive remains optional, and in addition to Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes, there will be three terrain management modes to choose from: Snow, Mud and Sand.
The big news, of course, is the addition of a Seltos Hybrid. What we know so far is that this model will offer Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality for powering external devices, as well as Kia’s Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0 which automatically adjusts regenerative braking based on traffic flow and navigation data. Power, fuel economy and other specifications have yet to be disclosed. Kia Canada told us they are still finalizing the timing of its launch.

One more thing: safety and driver assistance are enhanced, notably with Highway Driving Assist 2, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 and Safe Exit Warning.
Details specific to the Canadian market, including trim levels, equipment and pricing, will be released closer to the on-sale date. For the record, the outgoing Seltos currently ranges from $25,695-$39,595, not including the $2,599 freight, PDI and dealer fees.
