Next-Gen Nissan Rogue to Launch Sooner Than Expected
The fourth-generation Nissan Rogue, originally slated to launch in the first half of 2027, is now expected to hit the market in the fall of 2026, according to U.S. media reports on Thursday.
Units will initially arrive from Japan, and then Nissan’s Smyrna, Tennessee plant will begin production in 2028, but likely only for the U.S. market and not Canada given the situation with tariffs.

This future Rogue will mark the North American introduction of Nissan's e-Power hybrid technology, which is widely used in Europe and Japan, using one or more electric motors to power the vehicle and a combustion engine to charge the battery on the go.
As we reported earlier this month, Nissan is apparently in talks with other automakers, including Ford and Stellantis, to supply them with a compact SUV based on the Rogue e-Power.
But why is the company moving up the launch of the next Rogue? While the plan to release a Rogue PHEV (based on the current generation but derived from the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV) in early 2026 still stands, it seems Nissan doesn't expect to enjoy much success with the model after the recent elimination of the $7,500 federal tax credit by the Trump administration in the U.S.
South of the border, Rogue sales are down 14% after the first three quarters of 2025, and its market share has declined from 11% to 7.4%, according to Automotive News Research & Data Center. Here in Canada, sales are up just over 3%.
Clearly, the Rogue is suffering from a lack of electrified options in its model lineup, and this is the main reason why Nissan wants to accelerate the launch of the new Rogue e-Power.
Going back to the 2026 Rogue PHEV, which is set to be announced shortly, we are still waiting for official information including specs. Yes, it will share its powertrain with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, but the latter is due to receive improvements for 2026, including a larger battery capacity offering more electric range than the current 61 km.
