Acura Kills ZDX a Second Time, Shifts Focus to Upcoming RSX
The Acura ZDX is a doomed nameplate. After the gasoline-powered crossover of the early 2010s, the company is now axing the similarly named electric SUV it launched just a year ago.
The news was confirmed today in a statement sent to various U.S. media outlets.

"To better align our product portfolio with the needs of our customers and market conditions, as well as our long-term strategic goals, we can confirm the Acura ZDX has ended production," as quoted by Car and Driver.
That’s fairly shocking given that the new ZDX was still in its first model year (there is no 2025 model). On the other hand, lower-than-expected demand for electric vehicles and the expiration of the $7,500 federal tax credit in the U.S. on September 30 made its outlook rather bleak.
As incredible as it may sound, some American dealers have offered rebates of up to $30,000 to help sell units. With the ZDX now discontinued, expect further discounts in both the U.S. and Canada until inventory runs out. Of course, customers will continue to receive support for service, parts and warranties.
What’s Next?
Remember, the Acura ZDX (just like the Honda Prologue) was developed with the help of General Motors and assembled at the same factory as the Cadillac Lyriq in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Incidentally, according to a report by Carscoops, the decision to kill the ZDX will not immediately affect the Prologue, which is manufactured in Mexico alongside the Chevrolet Blazer EV, among others.
Going forward, Acura will shift its focus to the upcoming RSX, which debuted in August as a prototype and is scheduled to enter production at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio sometime in the second half of 2026. It will be the Japanese automaker’s first vehicle to use its all-new e:Architecture and ASIMO operating system, both developed in-house.
As for new hybrid models from Acura, nothing official has been announced yet. The Integra is rumoured to get the Civic Hybrid’s system in the near future.
