Additional Ford and Lincoln Vehicles Recalled Over Braking Issues

Yet another bunch of vehicles from Ford are being hit by a safety recall to address a braking issue.

Affected models this time include the Ford F-150, Expedition, Bronco and Ranger as well as the Lincoln Navigator, all of them from the 2025 model year. Around 312,000 units are part of the recall in the U.S. The number in Canada has yet to be announced.

So, what’s wrong? Due to "normal but infrequent voltage disturbances, the electronic brake booster (EBB) module can shut off either during normal driving or while a driver-assist system is in use.

As a result, the warning lights will illuminate on the dash alongside warning messages. More importantly, though, the loss in boost will reduce brake pedal feel and increase pedal travel, startling the driver. Things would stay that way until the EBB module is reset along with the vehicle’s ignition cycle.

Only one incident has been reported to Ford so far, but without injuries or deaths.

The fix in this case is a simple update to the EBB module. Affected owners have the option of installing it remotely via an over-the-air update or at a dealership with the help of a technician.

Back in May, numerous 2022-2024 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs were recalled because the front brake lines could come into contact with the engine air cleaner outlet pipe and become damaged over time. This could lead to a brake fluid leak and reduce front brake performance.
