A Nissan Armada NISMO, Really?

Similar to its luxurious cousin, the Infiniti QX80, which is adding a Sport model for 2026, the Nissan Armada full-size SUV—also redesigned last year—now gets the NISMO treatment. Say what? That’s right: the Z NISMO has a new albeit unexpected sidekick.

Basically, look for more power, recalibrated steering, a firmer suspension and a louder exhaust system, all wrapped in a sportier-looking package that customers can get in three colours. Two are exclusive to the NISMO model including Stealth Gray (with or without a black roof) and Diamond Black Pearl. The other option is Everest White Pearl (with or without a black roof).

35 Extra Horsepower

Let's start with the twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6, which gets a boost from 425 to 460 hp thanks to revised engine programming and valve clearance adjustment. It's not only stronger but also more pleasant to listen to, although the exhaust sound will still be artificially amplified by the in-cabin speakers. The nine-speed automatic gearbox comes with steering-wheel-mounted paddles.

Improvements under the hood are complemented by NISMO-exclusive tuning with the electric power steering reworked for a sportier feel and the adaptive air suspension producing a more responsive driving experience. Meanwhile, the unique 22-inch forged alloy wheels wear a higher-performance all-season tires.

Fast and Furious

The powertrain and chassis upgrades are accompanied by styling enhancements, of course. The bumpers, front grille, side steps and rear spoiler have all been designed by the NISMO division. Other highlights include fender flares, LED front fog lamps and red brake calipers, plus red accents all around.

Inside, NISMO-specific quilted leather appointments are finished in charcoal with red accents and stitching. We like the fact that the front seats feature adjustable side bolsters for extra support in corners. Aluminum pedals and multicolour ambient lighting complete the package.

The 2026 Nissan Armada NISMO should arrive in dealerships later this summer, and pricing will be announced at that time. Let’s face it, sales in Canada are likely going to be very marginal, as this type of SUV is more suited to the needs of drivers in other markets. By the way, the rest of the lineup includes SL, PRO-4X, Platinum and Platinum Reserve models, the second one designed with off-road driving in mind.
