2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Hit With Major Price Hikes

The all-new 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport is arriving at Canadian dealerships this week, and as we anticipated prices are way higher in part due to the Canadian countertariffs on U.S.-built vehicles.

Compared to the outgoing generation, the latest Passport also takes capability and adventure to a new level, retaining only the off-road-oriented TrailSport model. Three packages are available including Blackout, Touring and Touring Blackout.

The least expensive 2026 Honda Passport starts at an all-inclusive price of $60,158, which represents an increase of around $6,500 over 2025—or $3,000 if you compare it to the old Passport TrailSport. The Blackout package, which gives the vehicle a darker appearance, costs an additional $1,200.

The more premium Passport TrailSport Touring offers extra content such as a new TrailWatch camera system, perforated leather seating and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. This one starts at $63,708, and again the Blackout package requires another $1,200.

You should also know that Honda engineers have created the broadest line of Genuine Honda Accessories ever, including a variety of 18-inch wheels, an aluminum front scuff plate robust rock sliders with stainless-steel plates, and an extensive new line of cargo solutions with an overlanding focus (cargo roof platform, MOLLE storage systems, cargo shelf that transforms into a picnic table, etc.).

Under the hood, the 3.5-litre V6 now produces 285 horsepower (instead of 280 hp) and 262 lb-ft of torque through a new 10-speed automatic transmission shared with the Pilot and a more capable, torque-vectoring i-VTM4 all-wheel drive system that provides 30% faster response.

Fuel consumption ratings have just been announced, too: 12.6 L/100 km around town, 9.9 L/100 km on the highway and 11.4 L/100 km combined. All of them are a tenth of a litre higher than before.

By comparison, the 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport’s main competitor, the completely redesigned 2025 Toyota 4Runner, ranges from $57,204 to $70,888 when equipped with its turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but from $70,340 to $87,205 with the i-Force Max hybrid powertrain.

The Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco both carry lower base prices in their four-door configurations than Honda's SUV, but they can also cost you a lot more in their most expensive trim levels. On that note, don't miss our first driving impressions of the new 2026 Passport TrailSport.
