Ford Top Selling Brand In Europe
If you’ve followed the automotive marketplace at all in the last year or two, you already know that Ford is gaining momentum in a way they haven’t done since Henry invented the assembly line. With a better lineup than the brand has known since that historic time, Ford has enjoyed unrivalled success, even in light of the recent recession.
But that’s a far cry from crowning them kings of the automotive marketplace. As far as volume goes, they’ve got a lot of ground to cover before they can claim North America as their own. However, over in Europe, where the Ford revolution seemed to have started (credit Ford of Europe with the creation of the amazing Fiesta and soon-to-be-here Focus, as well as the Transit), the Blue Oval brand has had a bit of head start, and it appears to have paid off: Ford is now the best-selling brand in Europe.
That’s right, even in a land that’s given birth to brands North Americans typically consider a cut above in quality, the Blue Oval dominates. Credited largely to the new Fiesta, which debuted in Europe in 2008, this rise in market share comes after March’s sales figures saw an 11.5% gain, resulting in a .4% boost in market share, pushing Ford’s market share to 10.4% total. The Fiesta, making up 68,000 of the month’s 192,500 sales seems to be gaining momentum as it enters its third year on dealership floors (March Fiesta sales were up 28.6% over the previous March), and is on track to take the place of Volkswagen’s Golf as the bestselling car in Europe.
