Fiat Pays Homage to Ferrari in Frankfurt
With Ferrari being the automotive powerhouse that they are, it’s easy to forget that the famous Italian brand is in fact little more than a subsidiary of the even larger automotive powerhouse, Fiat.
But, that’s not to diminish Ferrari’s place on the automotive food chain. Perhaps the most lust-worthy brand extant, even Fiat feels compelled to bow down to the prancing horse from Maranello with this special variant of the Fiat 500. Called the 695 Tributo Ferrari, the diminutive hatchback features a tiny 1.4 litre four cylinder gasoline engine tuned by both Abarth and Ferrari engineers to create a stupendous 180 horsepower. Underneath, a variable exhaust system supplies what must be some seriously fantastic exhaust notes, while the handling responsibilities fall on the capable shoulders of a sport tuned suspension; itself hanging 17” wheels that downright massive in the 500’s tiny wheelwells.
Inside, there are little details available prior to the car’s Frankfurt showing, but Fiat has announced that Jaeger will produce special gauges, while Sabelt will make the seats. Of course, the most eye catching change is the Scuderia Red paint with contrasting grey stripes that mimic those found on the F430 Scuderia.
