Acura CDX: Old Practices For a New Model
A lot of people used to say that Acura products were nothing more than gussied-up Hondas. It’s true that some of their models shared a lot of components with Honda products, but today’s models are different: the TLX doesn’t share much with the company's other sedans.
It’s one thing to share platforms, but you have to make sure people won’t see through your disguise: for example, the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf share the same platform, but they look nothing alike.

Anyway, here is the Acura CDX, based on the Honda HR-V. The overall shape is similar, but you can see that designers took great care in remodelling the front end. It looks like the new MDX.
Engine-wise, Acura chose to do its own thing: instead of the HR-V’s 1.8-litre, 141-horsepower engine, the CDX will come with the turbocharged 1.5-litre four from the new Honda Civic. With 182 horsepower, this should help the luxury CUV to distance itself from the HR-V. Also, the CVT automatic transmission is replaced by an eight-speed twin-clutch gearbox.
All-wheel drive will be optional; the vehicle will arrive in China before the end of the year, and should start between USD$38,000 and USD$46,000.
The Acura CDX hasn’t yet been confirmed for North America.
