A Hybrid Porsche 911 In The Works?
Since the first days of sports cars, there has been a simple mantra. Cars had to be as light as possible, meaning that equipment and size was usually kept to a minimum.
However, a new restriction arose in the last few years: not only does today's sports cars have to be powerful and light, but they also have to be fuel efficient.

This is why Porsche is working on a hybrid version of its legendary 911; to be able to meet ever-tightening emissions laws while still offering the brand’s legendary flat-six engine, Porsche will have to offer a plug-in 911.
However, this won’t happen tomorrow morning. According to Erhard Mössle – Engineering Director for the 911 Turbo – we won’t see this model until the 911’s next generation, or around 2020. According to him, the biggest challenge right now is to find a way to develop a battery pack that is light, compact and can supply enough energy.
