The Super Auto Show - A Huge Success!
Mont-Saint-Hilaire, September 23, 2015 – On September 12th, The Car Guide held its first-ever Super Auto Show on the tarmac at the ICAR motorsport complex in Mirabel. Many different auto events take place in Quebec, but none are anything like the Super Auto Show, where visitors don’t just get to see cars, they get to touch, hear and test them too. It’s a day of pure enjoyment for automobile lovers.
The occasion was extra special as it was also a chance to celebrate the 50th edition of Quebec’s leading automotive publication, Le Guide de l’auto. And for the event, the organizers decided to go large. In an area measuring 26,500 square metres, some 3,200 fans came out to admire more than 350 classic cars and check out the 40 kiosks surrounding the site.
Some kiosks featured highly valuable cars, like a gorgeous Ferrari 275 GTB and a Jaguar XK150, to name just a few. Alfa Romeo was out in full force with brand-new models as well as a Montreal from the 1970s. This is also where trophies were awarded to the owners of the most stunning classic cars in Quebec’s Classic Car Club and Classic European Car Club. In addition, Jean Lemieux, President of LC Media and owner of The Car Guide, made a touching tribute to Jacques Duval, an outstanding automobile journalist and great communicator.
Bertrand Godin and Michel Barrette came out to present trophies, sign autographs and of course have fun and chat with visitors. Meanwhile, grill master Steven Raichlen prepared a real “man’s meal”!
In the private lounge, John Scotti Automotive Ltd. displayed a stunning array of Lamborghinis, Lotuses and even a Cobra. Decarie Motors showed off their Bentley, Jaguar and Land Rover units. Outside, visitors had the chance to see an Aston Martin GT4 race car, the only one of its kind in Quebec.
Crowds flocked to the tent run by Dan’s Rod Shop, where several spicy hot rods were on display. People also loved talking to the folks from the Tesla Quebec Club and Campagna Motors, who make the well-known T-Rex. Modified car fans were treated to some fine examples of tuning from Montreal Racing which rolled onto the site in a convoy.
Racing buffs treated their eyes and ears to the Vintage Race Experience featuring Mustangs from the 1960s. There were also representatives from the Micra Cup, the Louis-Philippe Dumoulin race team (NASCAR Canadian Tire) and Total Lubricants presented a Formula 1 car! As for the journalists from The Car Guide, they held book-signing sessions and took some lucky visitors for a spin around the track in sports cars.
Members of the public who wanted to test drive a new car had their pick of models from Nissan, Chrysler, Mazda, Ford and Tesla. By the end of the day, more than 350 demo rides were recorded on the closed circuit.
This automotive celebration was made possible thanks to the more than 60 volunteers who made sure everything went smoothly and the various suppliers, clients and car buffs who made the Super Auto Show a tremendous success—despite the rain!
The Super Auto Show team was delighted to receive positive feedback from visitors and exhibitors alike. The one thing that came up the most often was, “We want the show to come back again!”
