Renault Returns To Canada
At the end of the '80s, French manufacturer Renault stopped selling cars on our continent, victim of new environmental laws that made their cars noncompliant. Sales weren’t exactly great to begin with, so that didn’t help.
It seems that the manufacturer is currently planning its return to our shores; according to La Presse, Renault is working on finding a reliable way to sell and service their vehicles in Canada.

For now, only a few electric vehicles will be imported. First will be the Twizy (an electric city car with a range of about 80 km), then we should see the Kangoo, an electric commercial van.
Renault has to obtain an exemption from the government, though: its vehicles are not compliant with our safety norms. If they manage to sway our legislators, they would then be allowed to bring 1,000 of their cars here. If they wish to sell more, they would have to modify them to comply with our laws (if the demand is there, we hope that’s what happens).
