2024 Honda Civic Hatchback, Acura Integra Lose Base Trim, Cost More
Honda has simplified its hatchback lineups for the 2024 model year and customers on a budget won’t be pleased. Why? Because the cheapest trim levels have been axed and prices keep rising.
The 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback offers just two models—Sport and Sport Touring. The former makes do with a CVT, while the latter can also be specified with a manual gearbox. The base LX, which was available with both transmissions, no longer exists.

Consequently, the least you can spend on a five-door Civic is now $36,075 including all applicable fees, an increase of $4,000 from the lowest price point in 2023. That’s awfully expensive for a FWD-only compact car, especially considering that some SUVs from rival automakers offer more space and AWD for less money.
The Sport Touring model starts at $39,575 for 2024, no matter which transmission you select. Here, prices are up just $500, but they’re getting dangerously close to the $40k mark.
The explosive, 315-horsepower Civic Type R is not currently listed on Honda Canada’s online configurator, likely due to extremely limited availability. As for the new Civic Hybrid, production will start next spring as a 2025 model.
Same Deal With Acura
Honda’s luxury brand has used a similar approach for 2024. The Acura Integra no longer offers a base trim, retaining only the A-Spec, Elite A-Spec and the new Type S. The first one comes with a CVT exclusively and costs $41,579, which represents a hike of $1,800 versus the same model a year ago and is $4,500 above the previous entry point.
An increase of $1,800 is also applied to the Elite A-Spec ($47,079), which you can have with a manual transmission at no extra cost. It’s still a fairly good value in the segment and a more versatile option than every other competitor, although the absence of AWD inevitably affects sales.
The 320-horsepower Integra Type S, which shares its engine with the Civic Type R, starts at $58,329, again when all fees are included.
