Spotlight On The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu

This week, Car Guide is travelling to sunny California to drive the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.

The Malibu has had an interesting history in the last few years: the eight generation of the midsize sedan was launched in 2013, and received its ''mid-cycle refresh'' only 18 months later.

Now, we are about to see the ninth generation: lighter than ever (thanks to a 136-kilo diet) and 10 centimetre longer than it used to be, the Malibu now sports a modern and clean look.

Engine-wise, there are three options: a 1.5-litre turbocharged Ecotec engine paired with a six-speed automatic is standard, while a 250-horsepower 2-litre is available; this one comes with an eight-speed automatic. A hybrid version is also available: its 1.8-litre engine coupled with an electric motor and a 1.5 kW lithium-ion battery will net it a fuel economy of less than 6 litre per 100 km.

Follow our website in the next days to read what we thought of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu.

In the meantime, why not check out our Chevrolet Malibu Zone or read about its launch at the New York Auto Show?
